Happy Birthday Edmodo!  Edmodo turns 2 years old today. Actually, it officially happens at 11PM PST tonight.

Happy Birthday Edmodo

In even bigger news, Edmodo passed a significant milestone today when the 500,000th user signed up!  In less than two years, Edmodo has spread across 10,000 schools to a half a million users.

What is driving the excitement and growth?  You are!  Teachers are telling other teachers the great ways that Edmodo helps students both in and outside the classroom. Schools and districts are jumping on board too.

What do users like best? The ease of sharing Internet content in a safe and secure social network is one of the top reasons we hear.

Teachers are always looking for interesting online content to engage their students. When they find something, they enjoy sharing it with their students and with other teachers, who in turn share the content with their students. And the network keeps growing.

Thanks to the half a million Edmodo users (and more joining since we started writing this post) who are making Edmodo the fastest growing social network for education.

Half a million users…. that’s a big birthday party.
