We’re pleased to announce that Edmodo now supports LaTeX – a typesetting system that formats mathematical equations using plain text.
To include an equation in an Edmodo Note, simply wrap the LaTeX markup in [math] … [/math]. This will generate an image of the corresponding equation, which will be displayed in the post.
“But Edmodo, Math has lots and lots of symbols – how will I ever learn how to produce these in LaTeX?!”
While it’s true that once you move beyond the basic top row of your keyboard, typing math symbols requires knowledge of some basic commands, there are a number of good resources on the web available to help you identify the LaTeX symbol for each math equation. We recommend wikibooks as a great first stop on learning LaTeX language and provides a solid foundation for basic commands.

This website allows you to handwrite an equation (you can use a tablet , smartboard, or mouse) and it will convert it to a math equation and show you the LaTex version. The only thing missing is the prefix/suffix [math] … [/math]

I visted the website you posted above and created a symbol for the square root of 15. I copied the code and placed it in Edmodo just like this: [math]\sqrt {15}[\math] and it will not create the math symbol in Edmodo.. it simply copies the latex code. Is there a tutorial demonstrating how to do this? What am I doing wrong?
Your second slash is backward. Instead of ” [math]\sqrt {15}[\math]” try ” [math]\sqrt {15}[/math] “.
It works perfectly when writing an expression in a message but it doesn`t in a test. It reports an error when I try to enter something similar to a LaTex expression. Does anybody know how to do it?
It worked for me just now. I just went to the following website

and drew my math problem. Then I copied the language from the lower right-hand corner and pasted it into the question field in an Edmodo quiz. I typed [math] before the language and [/math] after the language. It looked like this:
