Edmodo Call-to-Action: Help Minot, ND Schools

The community of Minot, North Dakota was recently affected by unprecedented flooding, resulting in the displacement of thousands of residents and the destruction of many of their schools.  With the new fall semester beginning in a month, the community of Minot is doing everything they can to ensure all of their students, many of whom have lost everything, recover from the devastation.

Minot teacher Thomas Scheeler, a long time Edmodo user and frequent contributor to the Edmodo Communities, has partnered with The Kids In Need Foundation, a national, non-profit organization to accept donations that will provide supplies to Minot students affected by the record-breaking flood.

This year feels like the year of natural disasters – from the earthquake in Christchurch NZ, the tsunami in Japan, to the floods in the eastern US, and forest fires in the Southwest US, it seems there is no place on earth untouched by heartbreak.  So we’ve decided that it’s time to mobilize the Edmodo Community to lead the charge in supporting each other when we need it most.  And we’re starting with Minot.

A $15 donation will purchase a backpack full of supplies for a Minot student.  Donors can visit the http://www.kinf.org/minot/ website and make a donation that will deliver school supplies directly to the hands of local Minot teachers and students.

Stay tuned for more updates and announcements related to this initiative. Thank you for your support – and thanks to Thomas Scheeler for your dedication to the students and community of Minot…and for reminding us that we’re all in this together.
