A Fun Little Project for Your Holiday: Edmodo Mini-lesson Challenge

Last week, we posted a quick Edmodo mini-lesson that focused on reflecting on 2011 and planning for the year to come. The response from the educator community to these lessons was amazing – teachers all over the world created “Best and Worst of 2011″ and “2012 Resolutions” groups and had a great time discussing the results with their students. Thanks to all of the educators who wrote us to tell us about your experiences!
We also heard from a number of teachers who want more easy-to-implement Edmodo mini-lessons that can be used as unit activators, morning work, or simply a short activity to help your students get started with Edmodo.
Since most of us have been out of the classroom for awhile and our lesson planning skills are a little…err…rusty, we’ve decided to turn this request over to the Edmodo community. Will you share a mini-lesson with the community?! Here’s how it works:
1. Create a brief lesson or activity that uses Edmodo. Please keep the lesson to five steps or fewer. (use the End of year lessons we posted last week as a general guideline on level of detail to provide.)
2. Include grade level and subject area as well as a link to any recommended content (e.g. video, game, worksheet, etc.)
3. Join the Edmodo Mini-Lesson Challenge Group using this “request to Join” URL.
4. Once your request to join has been accepted, post your lesson in the group.
Once we have a bunch submitted, we’ll post them somewhere for all to view and access. We’ll also post a few of the top lessons here on the blog.
We hope these lessons will become a valuable resource not only for the current Edmodo community, but for teachers who are planning to launch Edmodo in January – so please help them out by submitting your lesson!
Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday break – we’re looking forward to a fantastic 2012!
