Today, we’re excited to introduce the latest version of Edmodo. We listened to your feedback and added new features that will make it simpler to connect with resources, and get insight into how students feel about assignments, classroom discussions and shared content. We also made the features you love even more powerful. We will be rolling out the latest version to all of our users over the next few weeks.
Here’s a peek at what’s new:
Discover
Connect with other teachers who are teaching the same things as you and easily find content to use in your classroom. Now it’s easier to discover and surface content you need, at the moment you need it.
Insights
We took the idea of a “Like” button and made it more informative and more actionable. Insights is designed to help you get a pulse on your classroom. Hear how your students are feeling and quickly respond to student work and discussions.
Activity Stream
The new activity stream makes it even easier to manage your classrooms with Edmodo. See all activity from your students and your connections in real-time.
Groups, Planner and Progress Report
Lastly, we’ve made the features you love even more powerful, including:
- Groups: We’ve centralized group functions, putting everything that you need to create and deliver courses in one place. Now you can share folders and manage small groups, all with one click.
- Planner: Formerly known as the Calendar, the planner allows you to see your schedule in multiple views and create task lists for yourself.
- Progress Report: Formerly known as the Gradebook, the Progress Report houses the traditional gradebook and also allows you to track student badges.

hurry up and roll it out already!
As a new user, I’m super excited to learn all I can. In reading about the update, I find that I must still have an “old” version since I hace a calendar and not a planner. Any suggestions?
You should just download the latest version to your computer and sooner or later you will get the hang of using the new version, which I find rather better than the old because everything within a click of a button.

I’m not seeing any changes today. Is this being rolled out? When? I’m introducing students to Edmodo. I don’t want to have to reteach it.
Its being rolled out over the next few weeks. You will receive an email once you have the option to switch over.

My daughter, Indeya Geddie, is in Mrs. Walker’s fourth period class. We are excited about this school year!
In the new version, It is no longer possible to have Gif’s as your Profile picture! Gif’s made profiles interesting, and I hope that they can be returned.

I agree, why did you have to get rid of it?
Just rolled over to the new version which is great. Applied the change across all my groups. Prior to rolling over, everything was running fine, but we’re running into some issues with the new version, noticeably, group code entry (“please wait” spinning icon that does not turn over) and inability for students to vote. I can revert to the old version, but my groups are still on the new. Our lab machines run on IE8.

Is there any way to turn the gradebook off? I am posting assignments for students but I am not grading them and it looks like they have 0′s on all of those assignments.
No, but you can replace the “0″ with c/r (credit)
I loaded the new versions 3 times. It is full of bugs. I will wait a week and try again.
When can I switch over to the newest version for me? I see it pop up, and go away every now and then, and it’s a little weird. Is there a button to let me switch as a student?
You cannot switch over as a student. Once a teacher has switched over all his/her students will have the latest version. Everyone should have access within the next few weeks!
I love the look of the new verison; however, I immediately switched back to the older version when I discovered that my students are Required to make a comment And select an icon regarding their opinion of the assignment before it will let them submit that assignment. I, nor my students, have the time to worry about such stuff. I will be using the older version as long as possible.
That is exactly what caused me to switch back too. Can we shut this feature off?
I notice i still haven’t gotten the update. It came out on the fourth of september. And now it is Sept 15. When will I be able to get the latest update?
Mr. Allen, I’m with you. It’s October 15, I’ve been using Edmodo quite a long time, and I’m not able to use the new version. There must be quite a lot of technical issues they didn’t plan for.
Many of my students are seeing the “new” version when they log in, but I have not seen it at all. It is confusing for them, and stressful for me, because they are asking all sorts of questions! When will we be able to get it, too?
. Some students will already have access if another teacher of theirs has access. Everyone should have access in the next couple weeks.
I’m wondering if folders will be able to have subfolders in them with this new version? That would be super!
No, folders will not have sub folders

GIFs cannot be used in this new version of edmodo. They made profile pictures fun and I would REALLY like to have them back.

I am wondering how come or when I will be able to access the new version on my iPad. I am able to access it via my PC, yet the iPad/tablet version does to allow me to access discover or any of the other great options in the new version.

where is the library in new edmodo
There is an icon on the top navigation bar that looks like 3 books. Select that to open your library.

Hi, can someone tell if this new version has already a portuguese translation? I would like to upgrade but i’m afraid that without a portuguese translation kids won’t do the tasks!

Does the new version of Edmodo stop students from turning in late assignments? I have a lot of students that tried to turn in an assignment late but couldn’t.
It would be nice if you could bring back gifs. We were disappointed when we found you couldn’t use them anymore.
I introduced Edmodo to some colleagues and on their version (that they downloaded yesterday), they have the APP icon. My version does not. How do I get updated to the newest version that includes the APP icon?
