On Tuesday, December 11, Edmodo was unavailable at intermittent times between 6:30 – 10:30 am PST.

We’re very sorry and want to take some time to explain what happened and what we’re doing to help prevent a similar problem in the future.

What Happened

As you know, we’re constantly improving Edmodo. On Monday afternoon, we released an update designed to increase site performance. Unfortunately, the upgrade caused an error during our busiest time of day, causing the site to go down.

Moving Forward

We know you depend on Edmodo and we’re going to continue to work hard to live up to the trust you place in us. We have many infrastructure improvements planned for the coming year and we will apply the lessons we learned during this outage to create an even stronger Edmodo.

We apologize again for the inconvenience, and thank you for your continued support. If you have any additional questions you can post them to our Support Community.

    It’s okay!

No problem. My students had other activities to do that day.

I do have a major request. Edmodo would be even more wonderful if it had editing tools available to me and the students. It would help me be able to edit my students writing samples.

It would also be nice to have students be able to reply to my comments after they turn in an assignment. That way I can have a private conversation with my students that is directly related to the topic.

All in all, this site is truly a wonderful place to work with students. It gives us so many tools to use such as video, web sites, teacher files, etc to work with. My alternative high school students enjoy this over and above other ways of doing activities.

Released code on Monday afternoon, which did not show itself until Tuesday morning?

This speaks to more testing needed, and perhaps a different time needed for the release of new features. Like on a Friday night for weekend testing.
