On Monday, many classrooms around the U.S. will be commemorating the life of Martin Luther King Jr. We’ve pulled together a great list of Edmodo Apps to help engage students around the influential Dr. King, as well as apps you can use for Black History Month. If you have any resources or apps you’d like to share, post a comment below, or share in one of the Edmodo Communities.

Subtext
Subtext enables you to engage a class in discussion around any digital doc. You can install the Edmodo app for free and check out a new collection, created especially for Black History Month, which aligns with Common Core skills such as close reading, critical analysis, & reading informational texts. Follow the Subtext Community to learn more.

Pixton Comics
This app gives students a fun, new way to express themselves in the graphical format of comics. Design & control fully posable, expressive characters, speech bubbles, photos & even sound. Here’s an example of an MLK comic. Follow the Pixton Comics Community to learn more.

myHistro
myHistro is a timeline creation tool. Combining time references with maps and photos, this teaching tool supports learning in several ways. You can create interactive timelines for  your lessons, or students can prepare these as assignments. Follow the Histros Inc. Community to learn more.

StudySync StudySync provides multimedia lessons centered around novels. Using the app, students can read an excerpt from a novel, view a video lesson modeling a student discussion of the text, and write a thoughtful response based on a writing prompt. Teachers may also allow students to participate in a peer review of their writing. Check out the following StudySync apps for Black History Month and follow the StudySync Community to learn more.
