We wanted to send out a big thank you to everyone who was able to attend EdmodoCon 2011 last week. We were blown away with the number of attendees who logged in throughout the day as well as the positive feedback we received after the event. We can’t wait to do it again next year!

We know there were a number of you who were interested in participating, but couldn’t make it, and many of you who could only attend for part of the day. Today we’d like to share with everyone the official EdmodoCon Toolkit and a link to the recorded sessions.

Educator Toolkit

One of our goals with EdmodoCon was to give teachers inspiration for using Edmodo in the classroom this year. To help achieve this, our presenters have helped us assemble an Educator Toolkit that is now available via the EdmodoCon Group. You can find all of the toolkit materials, as well as all the presentations from EdmodoCon in the shared folder titled “EdmodoCon 2011″. (Note: If you are not a member of the EdmodoCon group, but would like access, please send a request.)

EdmodoCon Recording

Many of you have been anticipating the EdmodoCon recording and we’re please to let you know it is now available. At this time, it is only available in one long recorded block, so it will take a few minutes or more to open, depending on your Internet connection (you’ll see a “buffering” message until it caches and plays). If you’d like to see the chat session, be sure to select the chat icon in the upper right corner of the page.

UPDATE: The sessions are now available in individual videos. View the EdmodoCon archives.

Parent accounts are a great way to keep your students’ parents informed of classroom activities, assignments, grades and school events.

The registration process for parents is similar to student registration, with one additional security measure – each parent will need their own unique parent code to register. This is to ensure that parents can only interact with you and with their child.

The video below provides instructions on how to obtain parent codes. We also have created a Sample Letter you can send parents to invite them to Edmodo.

If you’re already taking advantage of parent accounts on Edmodo, we’d love to hear your ideas on how to make the most of them. Share with us in the comments!

Aproximately 25% of all posts in Edmodo that are made public are written in Spanish. These posts are from around the world and right next door. The users making these posts are supporting their students and schools with videos on how to sign up for Edmodo, documents to send home to parents, and even a complete translation our English language guide.

We would like to take this opportunity to show off some of these amazing resources and to point to them within our Help Center. We understand the irony of writing this post in English, so if you would like to see it in a spanish translation you can go to our Google Translate version of this post.

The following guide translation is hosted at Scribd (embedded below), but you can find it in the context of our Help Center here.La Guía Para Emplear EDMODO

We have also collected many Spanish language Edmodo screencasts and presentations and posted them in our Help Center.

Here is one of our favorites:

We appreciate everyone who has taken it upon themselves to craft support materials for Edmodo in their schools and districts.
In this video, Dyane Smokorowski explains how educators throughout Andover school district in Kansas are using Edmodo to engage students in academic social networking and project based learning. A great example of 21st century learning.

You are our heroes and we are honored to be part of your community.

Happy Thanksgiving!
