In addition to sharing links, as we reviewed last week, educators are using Edmodo to share curriculum related content. This morning we took a look at the types of content that is being shared the most – thought you might be interested in our findings:
1. Mini-lessons: Most of the content that is shared tends to be short, specific lessons, many of which you are creating yourselves and posting to sites like SchoolTube or YouTube. Last week, SchoolTube Math Videos were some of the most frequently shared content. (And, by the way, we all must be hungry….there are a lot of people using Girl Scout cookies to teach math.)
2. Formative Assessment: Many educators are using Edmodo to share brief checkpoints that monitor learning progress and provide valuable indicators into adjustments to your teaching that may need to be made. Last week, Quizlets and webquests were amongst the top content shared.
3. Meeting Needs of Diverse Learning Styles: A number of classrooms are sharing embeds that address the diverse learning needs in the classroom. Whether adding prompting questions to written text via Jogtheweb, or recording narration of text via Audioboo, it’s clear that personalizing learning is a critical part of your teaching.
