As technology becomes more of an integral part of our society, it’s important to help students understand appropriate use of social media tools and other digital citizenship skills. Edmodo offers various resources to help you get started, including security best practices, sample guidelines and a sample code of conduct for your students.

To help you relay the importance of digital citizenship, we’ve also created a Best Practices for Digital Citizenship poster which you can print and display in your classroom, or share with your students.

Download the poster:

    • Keith says:

Please consider a version with white background. The ink for our printer is outrageously expensive. That poster would use half of our ink for the year.

Excellent collection. Thanks for providing this. I’m going to retype the rules and then print them. White writing on a dark background doesn’t print/copy well in my school (and, I suspect, in many schools).

Very relevant! Necessary for the new & young.
Thank you! I’ll share this with our staff.

  17. Mr. Nagi says:

This is a terrific poster and find it very useful. Many students overlook mistakes when blogging and emailing. They get used to texting.

  18. Jen Roberts says:

Love the content of the poster, but there is no way I’m using that much ink to print it out. Could you make a version that is a white background instead? Then I would actually be able to use it.

  19. Maya says:

Could you possibly do it in Spanish :)?

  20. Judith Wehrmeister says:

Love this poster. Great information. However the green background will be very ink/toner intensive when printed. (Can you tell I buy the ink for my school?) Do you have a version without the green background?

  21. Dana Allen says:

We allow the students to evaluate posts or blogs by other anonymos students. Our students, for the most part, after reading through good posts and poor posts are able tocome up with guidelines for digital citizenship in our classroom. If they don’t we use something very similar to this poster to guide our conversations and determine whether not we need to add them to our classroom expecations. It worked well this year! We did have to come up with consequences for a couple students who didn’t follow them, but once we followed through we 2 everyone knew that we take digital citizenship very seriously.

Great resource – I’d love to use it as a jumping off point, to help my students develop their own. I think it’s very adaptable to elementary grades, but if you wanted to, you could have them put it in their own words.
