In October, we celebrated Connected Educator Month by setting out to recognize and reward those dedicated to growing their Edmodo network. Through our Power of One contest, we challenged existing Edmodo educators to invite a colleague to join the community and mentor them throughout the month, helping them to set up their classroom, leverage resources, and become a truly Connect Educator.
Two mentors and mentees were chosen based on a range of criteria, including creativity, demonstrated impact on teaching practices, and their use of Edmodo’s tools and feature. Without further adieu, let’s applaud our 2013 Power of One contest winners:
A self-proclaimed technophobe, Loretta O’Donnell knew she needed to keep up with the digital world we live in. Luckily, Edmodo educator Sandy McConnell was there to help! In this video, Sandy shares her personal experience of becoming a Connected Educator on Edmodo and how she helped Loretta, a 15-year veteran teacher, get started. With Sandy’s mentoring, and a little bit of planning, Loretta is now experiencing 21st century learning.
“Edmodo Girl” Renee Koeneman is here to save the day! Check out her submission video to see how she helped her mentee, Cara Brown, and other teachers at her school, solve everyday classroom challenges with Edmodo. Then get a sneak peek at Renee’s personal Edmodo account as she shows you how Edmodo gets used in her classroom.
Please join us in congratulating our 2013 Power of One contest winners! Each has won a free trip to FETC 2014 and $2,500 in Edmodo Store promotional credit for their school district.
