Every day, our dedicated Support team works to answer your questions. While it helps them understand how teachers use Edmodo, they decided it would give them even greater insight to spend some time in the classroom.
In partnership with SF Education Fund, twelve support team members were screened, trained, and placed in high-need classrooms across San Francisco to help them better understand the realities educators face on a daily basis. Since October, the team has volunteered its time in five different classrooms on a bi-weekly basis, tutoring and supporting teachers and students wherever there’s a need.
Through this experience, the Support team witnessed classroom technology in action, and in some cases, the frustrations faced by those without access to technology. “It’s been a rewarding experience that has impacted how we think about our jobs, education technology, and Edmodo,“ said Michelle Ritchie, a Teacher Advocate at Edmodo.
Each encounter left such an impression on the Support team that everyone at Edmodo has decided to get involved. In February, Edmodo will begin a partnership with the nonprofit organization, Reading Partners, to train its staff as reading tutors for schools in Redwood City, California. We not only hope to help students in need, but also want to give every Edmodian the opportunity to experience what educators do every day, and more importantly, play a role in supporting something Edmodo cares deeply about: improving education.
