This blog series lets you get to know the people at Edmodo. From what we do at the company, to some of our firsts and favorites, sneak a peek as we get personal.
Misha was born in Chula Vista, CA, where she attended Eastlake Elementary (Go Eagles!) and Otay Ranch High School (Go Mustangs!). For college, she left the warmth of the West Coast and went cross-country to major in Visual and Environmental Studies and Economics at Harvard University (Go Crimson!).
Currently living in Sunnyvale, Misha joined the Edmodo recruiting team in June 2013. As a Recruiting Coordinator, she works on university and intern outreach, sources talent, and helps create the best interview experience for candidates applying for jobs at Edmodo.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An artist! I still want to be one.
What was your first job?
I worked at a marketing and promotions company in Temecula where I spent 12 hour days sorting Harry Potter legos into swag bags for San Diego Comic-Con.
What was your first concert?
No Doubt/Ja Rule
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
My friend and I were in Uganda and paid a stranger $20 to be our guide into Kenya. We walked, rode buses, and hitchhiked for seven hours to the town of Kogelo, where we met Obama’s grandmother at her (heavily guarded) home.
I’ve also eaten an empanada full of crickets. It’s really not tasty.
What’s your greatest achievement?
Graduating from Harvard (HAHVAHD if you’re from Boston).
What do you do in your free time?
Learning various skills online: Spanish, design, etc. I’m about to start a course called Learn Ruby on Rails in 30 Days. I may need more days than that.
I also visit San Francisco as frequently as possible and pretend I live there.
Where are you going on your next vacation?
My dream is to go to Paris, but in reality my next vacation is Napa.
Do you have any pets?
Family pets Milo (Chinese Shar Pei) and Chase (a cockatiel).
What’s the first thing you do when you get home from work?
Put on a hideous pair of baggy MC Hammer-esque pants and eat everything in sight.
