And the Award Goes to…Teachers!

March 3, 2014Features7 commentsAmanda Zeligs

The Oscars marks the highest honor in the world of movies. At Edmodo, we believe the greatest achievements happen every day in your classrooms because teachers foster the talent that helps children grow up to be writers, actors, directors, and more.

While the world celebrates last night’s winners, we want to remember the times when Hollywood brought your stories to the silver screen. Following are ten inspirational movies about teaching:

I love Tuesdays with Morrie – maybe because I am from Detroit, but I just love that movie and then of course, The Miracle Worker.

I love October Sky because it is reminds me that we all struggle between the visions of our parents and the visions and goals we have for ourselves.

I show October Sky every year to my 7th grade students during our school’s science fair. I love the perseverance of the students in the movie (based on a real life story) – especially of Homer Hickham who will grow up to become a NASA engineer. It’s also a great movie to introduce the “space race.”

I think Dead Poets Society is an absolute brilliant film Robin Williams performance is challenging and the movie covers teen suicide issues which is sad and can be true in real life.
