Brooks was born in San Diego, CA, where he attended Spreckles Elementary and University City High School. For college, he left sunny southern California and headed north to major in Geography and minor in Education at the University of California, Berkeley.
Currently living in San Francisco, Brooks joined the Edmodo Support team as a Teacher Advocate in July 2013. When he isn’t busy being mistaken for his Hunger Games doppelgänger, Brooks develops high-quality content for our Help Center and works directly with you—the educators, students, and parents who use Edmodo—responding to your questions, sharing best practices, and listening to your feedback, all to help make your Edmodo experience even better.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Like many kids, I wanted to play professional basketball or football. Marketing also appealed to me because I thought it would be neat to develop commercials and ad campaigns. Being a teacher seemed like another fun option and I ended up teaching high school biology and environmental science for two years before coming to Edmodo.
What was your first job?
Working in a kitchen at a hotel, delivering room service.
What was your first concert?
Jewel, with my mom when I was 10.
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
I went on a two-week road trip across South Africa and into Namibia. Along the way, I completed the world’s highest bungee jump (272 meters).
What’s your greatest achievement?
To date, graduating with honors from UC Berkeley. Hopefully, there will be more to come.
What do you do in your free time?
Try to stay active by playing basketball, snowboarding, surfing, or just being outside. I like to read, too.
Where are you going on your next vacation?
Either New Zealand or Japan.
Do you have any pets?
What’s the first thing you do when you get home from work?
Change and hit the couch.
