Solving D3: Data-Driven, Differentiated Instruction
Wednesday, August 6, 2:45 pm–3:30 pm PDT
Beatrice Lopez teaches at PS/Intermediate School 54 in Bronx, New York, where she enjoys being part of an enriching, positive, dynamic, and supportive learning community.
Beatrice will share how she’s broken income barriers to education by bringing Edmodo into her classroom. Teaching in an impoverished neighborhood, access is everything to her students. With over half the enrollment in her school being English Language Learners, Beatrice has discovered and will present the importance in data analysis, data driven instruction, and differentiation. Learn how she’s overcoming the challenge of improving student achievement on Common Core State Standardized Testing and how Edmodo has enabled an underprivileged school to grow with the times—changing the paradigm of teaching 21st century digital learners with 19th century instructional methods and models.
When asked why she wanted to speak at EdmodoCon, Beatrice replied, “Edmodo has engaged students enthusiastically in creating a learning community based on communication, collaboration, and cutting edge technology. EdmodoCon provides the opportunity to share this experience and continue to grow and develop through this innovative learning collective.”
As one may guess, Beatrice’s favorite thing about Edmodo is its assessment features. The ability to get immediate insight into student performance allows her to better analyze an assessment’s effectiveness and examine individual student performance on each question. In addition, she uses the Progress feature to gauge student comprehension and learn how aligned her assessments are with her instruction.
