Here’s a new buzz word for you: Edmodentity. What’s that, you say? We say it’s the personal sense of connection one feels to their Edmodo account. Because a student who’s engaged is a student who’s invested, they can now personalize their Edmodo experience and express their true Edmodentity with avatars.

With the new Edmodo Avatar creator, students can create customized avatars for their profiles. Drawing from thousands of options for faces, features, hairstyles, colors, and more, the combinations are nearly endless and provide a great way to show off creativity to classmates, teachers, colleagues, and peers.

Kick Off School Creatively
When students sign up for an Edmodo account, creating an Avatar is a great way to engage them in Edmodo and in the classroom. Plus, they can change it any time to reflect their growth throughout the year.

As a next step, students can personalize their Profile even further, adding a favorite quote, learning style, and career goal. It’s a great way for students to introduce themselves and learn more about everyone else in class.

Create Your Personal Avatar
Feel like a mad scientist with pink hair? Now you can let people know! Does your history teacher inspire you to look like Abraham Lincoln? Show your Edmodentity to the world!

  1. Log in to your Edmodo account, then click the down arrow icon in the top right of your screen and select “Settings”
  2. Click “Change profile picture”
  3. Click “Personalize Avatar”
  4. Pick your background, face, body, eyes, mouth, eyebrows, and hairstyle, then decide if you want glasses or facial hair
  5. Click “Save” when you’re done having fun

You’re unique, so your Edmodentity should be, too. If you’re spontaneous at heart, click “Create Random,” and see what Edmodo Avatar gets created for you.

Congrats! This will be a great feature for many, many classrooms!

I really like the Edmodo Avatar creator! It’s another resource to choose from other than a handful of Avatar websites that I have encouraged students to use in the past. Only comment would be to add more Avatar options (more facial hair selections, accessories, background choices), but I believe this is a great start that any of my middle school students can use to customize their own profile picture since I do not allow their own faces to be posted on Edmodo.

    Thank you Edmodo team!
