High school teachers and counselors are involved in vital work: preparing students for college and adult life. But with all the pressure to deliver lessons that meet Common Core and state standards, ensure students have the courses they need to graduate and be eligible for college, and stay on top of administrative responsibilities, it’s hard to support students in finding the path that best fits their needs post high-school.
This is where LifeLaunchr, a new free app now available in the Edmodo Store, can help. By inviting students to connect with them on LifeLaunchr, teachers and counselors can help students find opportunities that are the best fit, and help them better develop and present themselves for college, internships, and jobs.
When a student signs up on LifeLaunchr they first take an interest assessment, which they can complete in as little as five minutes. This can help students find career paths and colleges that match their interests. Students can also create Storyboards that represent a vision of who they are and what they care about in photos and words, and track their interests, accomplishments, and goals.
“The career survey has opened up possibilities to things I have never thought of before that are very interesting to me, so I am excited to look them up and learn more about them,” says a student at Spokane’s Riverpoint High.
Teachers and mentors who connect to students on LifeLaunchr can easily view student activity and results, and learn more about student interests. Students can also share their LifeLaunchr storyboards and interests test results with their Edmodo Groups. This allows students to get direct feedback from peers and teachers, and learn how to most effectively present themselves when it comes to college, interview, and job interactions.
