During our preparations for EdmodoCon 2017 (which is still open for speakers!) we decided to ask previous EdmodoCon participants and speakers about their experiences. We received some really inspirational and thought-provoking responses, and we’d like to share a few of them with you.
“EdmodoCon was the best professional learning experience of my life,” said Chassie Selouane, a teacher and administrator from Dubai who participated in a panel about Supporting the Whole Student at EdmodoCon2016. “I had the opportunity to meet educators, who were just as passionate about teaching and learning as I am, from around the globe. It really brought home the importance of global citizenship and gave us the once in a lifetime opportunity and chance to learn new skills and ideas from places we may have never been able to make contact with before Edmodo!
“I honestly can say that Edmodocon was a life changing experience and taught me that being different and unique is appreciated.“
Kathleen Dunne, a middle school counselor from Oceanside, New York and was in the same panel, appreciated EdmodoCon’s global perspective: “Having met educators from all over the world, my appreciation for the work of these fine professionals has grown…It was a wonderful experience on so many levels. I felt I grew as a professional and as a person…[It] reminded me how passionate teachers are, and that held true no matter what corner of the globe they represented.”
And Alejandra Guzman told us about how EdmodoCon inspired her to expand her career and skillset. At EdmodoCon 2016, she spoke about data-driven instruction. She recently started her own consulting business High Five Science. “I share these ideas related to technology, effective teaching strategies, and data use. I am learning to use social media and my educational blog to collaborate more to expand my educational network globally. I aspire to become more of a visionary in the near future…educator during the day and visionary ninja at night!”
These are just a few of the ways that EdmodoCon participants have found their lives enriched after participating. If you’ve got a story to share or want to participate on a panel, let us know!
