Our dear friend the Copy Machine is having a going-away party!
Now that the classroom is going paperless, the Copy Machine has decided to travel the world. It’s told us that it wants to spend more time with its parents the ditto machine and the printing press and maybe study the art of paper folding known as origami.
The Copy Machine provided teachers with utility never before seen in the classroom. Copying not just single documents, but photos, pages of textbooks, and even other photocopies (with mild success).
We may have had some disagreements with the Copy Machine. After all, who can forget their first time seeing PC LOAD LETTER? And maybe it was a little too easy to press the wrong button and set Copy Machine off into another temper tantrum. But we’d never have been able to give students all the necessary materials for learning without the Copy Machine.
While we are sad to see our old friend go, the timing couldn’t be better. Edmodo’s new Assignments feature now creates individual copies of any Google or Microsoft Office doc that is attached to an assignment, personalized with each student’s name. No Copy Machine necessary.
- Students can work on the document or assignment right from within Edmodo.
- They can turn in the assignment without uploading, downloading, or attaching anything.
- Even after the assignment has been submitted, students can still view the document and teachers can leave specific feedback.
- Best of all, it’s completely automatic with a single click.
“In an age of technology, the paper trail needs to stop and technology needs to take over. This is a great tool to help students and teachers alike create a more clean and efficient learning environment! Well done!” – Mr. Duda
